Interdependent relationship is the most common political and economic phenomenon in the world. Theoretically speaking, the interdependent relationships of international politics can be divided into absolute dependence, equal dependence and asymmetrical dependence. However, due to the great differences like historic culture, policies, economic situation, and resource endowment, the relationship among countries usually is asymmetrical interdependence. The asymmetrical interdependent relationship will give right to the party with less dependence, showing that one party with less dependence exerts political influence to the other party with more dependence. The relationship between Russia and Central Asia is obviously asymmetrical, showing in many fields like politics, economics, resource and culture. The reasons for such a model include the objective aspects like resource endowment and the subjective aspects like messiah consciousness of Russia. The asymmetrical interdependent relationship between Russia and Central Asia can be dated back to the tsarist period. Under the colonial control of tsarist Russia, Central Asia was brought into the track of Russia’s modern development. The model of planned economy in the period of Soviet made the economic model of Asian countries extremely single. As a result, they had to rely on Russia, and thus the asymmetrical interdependent relationship got strengthened. After the breakup of the Soviet Union, the countries of Central Asia thoroughly exposed their sensibility and fragility. With the implementation of Russia’s policy to Central Asia, the Central Asia was brought into its leading track again. After the breakup of the Soviet Union,"a vacuum zone" appears, all the powerful countries and areas tries to hold something in the Central Asia. As the most powerful force in the world, America is the most influential external factor that affects the asymmetrical interdependent relationship among Russia and Central Asia relying on its power in the aspects of policy, economy and military. The Europe Union also attaches more importance to Central Asia and its policies because of its resource and safety. Besides, the Islamic countries also exert more influences to Central Asia with its advantages of religion and culture. As a neighbor of Central Asia, China also has more and more influence on it. Consequently, all these factors cause different influence on the asymmetrical interdependent relationship among Russia and Central Asia.Such an asymmetrical interdependent relationship among Russia and Central Asia has brought some confusion to China’s policies to Russia and Central Asia. But meanwhile it also gives some valuable inspirations. With its quick development, China also is forming some asymmetrical interdependent relationship. Therefore, China has to take positive measures to tackle the negative influences that such relationship may bring to China.
