Relevance Analysis Of Chinese Citizen’s Political Cognition And Political Efficiency

Based on the amended questionnaire of Chinese people’s sense of political efficacy in the second half of2010, the thesis makes a statistical analysis of the obtained data by means of the professional statistical software SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solutions). Through the analysis of the survey data, the thesis seeks an objective and comprehensive display of the present situation of Chinese people’s sense of political efficacy and political cognition and a further investigation of the relationship between the two. Although the study of political efficiency has not been conclusive, however, through the previous surveys overseas scholars agree that the sense of political efficacy is an internal scale reflecting the degree of democratization of a country, and some scholars even believe that the internal sense of political efficacy directly affects people’s acts of political participation. In particular, with the current rising popularity of democratic elections in China, citizens’awareness and desire of participation is growing, so the demand to do research in this area is more prominent. By way of questionnaire, the thesis captures the present situation of people’s sense of political efficacy and political cognition, reveals the relationship between the two and tries to find the characteristics of sense of political efficacy conforming to the current people, providing basis for decision making of relevant policies of the country. This is also the practical significance of the research lies.A preliminary conclusion has reached after related analysis. First of all, there is a significant correlation between our people’s political cognition and sense of political efficacy. Secondly, the relevant links between the two is not entirely consistent with previous statement (political cognition only closely relates to internal sense of political efficacy), but the people’s cognition level and the intensity of their overall level of political efficacy (including not only the internal political efficacy but also the external political efficacy) are closely related to each other. Finally, the individual’s political cognition and their sense of political efficacy are positively correlated, that is, the political efficacy people display in their political life can be reinforced with the improvement of their own level of political cognition.
