In recent years, under the dual roles of the government policies and marketopportunities, the development of ethnic tourism villages is growing rapidly. In thisprocess, there exist the ethnic tourism villages which are created deliberately by thegovernment in order to boost the local economy development, then appearing thephenomenon of cultural transplantation, it is defined that there is a culturalphenomenon which are painstakingly created by forces from the aspects who areseeking to achieve certain vested interests to themselves in places where any or oncehardly existed specific ethnic culture. It’s characteristics of falsity and commercialismwill not only break down the order of production and living in original villages, butalso will change original cultural identities and perceptions which local people have.Furthermore,it can hinder the sustainable development of village tourism. Under theguidance of this reality, the author start to empirical research about the phenomenonand relative results have been mentioned above. As an observational object, Feng village is one of typical representative cases. Therefore, through combining with questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews, theauthor carried out a sustaining fieldwork at several times and detailedly recorded theprogress about the phenomenon, including it’s reason and development of culturaltransplantation happened in the village under the tourism development. Firstly, theauthor visually interpreted the outward signs of the cultural transplantation, as well asexplained the changes of local residents’ cultural identities caused by the culturaltransplantation. Secondly, based on Max weber’ relevant theories to analyze thedynamic mechanism of the cultural transplantation, combined with thecircumstantialist and the primordialism models account for the reason of the changesabout relevant cultural identities, then further discussed how to walk the road of ethnicidentity in the modern society. Finally, based on analysis of the its influence and countermeasure, the author drewa final conclusion. That is to say, the tourism development in ethnic regions mustmarch with the authenticity of local ethnic culture. it is necessary to protect and renew characteristic culture. However, it is deviating from above principle to blindly conductthe culture transplantation that not only will weak or distort the authenticity of the localoriginal ethnic culture, but also will mislead the group members to form a utilitarianvalve of development. Therefore, it is essential to guide the local people’ culturalself-consciousness and improve the ability to protect the local culture, only in this waycan we make the ethnic tourism development sustainable.
