New Exploration To The Theory Of David Pepper’s Ecological Socialism

It is the economic crisis that human has to most prominently face during thefirst half of the twentieth Century. While it is global ecological crisis andenvironmental problems in the second half of the twentieth Century. Especiallysince the twenty-first Century, natural disasters of high temperature, droughts,floods, earthquakes, mud-rock flows and other extreme phenomena continuouslyhappen,even the ecological, chemical and genetic risk of accidents and occupationdiseases appear, suggesting the modern society has entered a risky society. Facingthe increasingly serious ecological crisis, western scholars make great efforts tofind the fundamental original ways and solutions for ecological crisis from differentangles to solve the problems. As the important representative of ecological socialistthought in the1990s—David pepper, his theory of ecological socialism is thesolution on the global ecological crisis results.In this paper, based on the research of the theory of Contemporary WesternEcological Socialism by scholars both at home and abroad, starting from the theoryof ecological socialism David pepper’s historical background, analyzes the realisticfoundation of the theory of Pepper’s eco-socialism and ideological origins, and itanalyzes the method with amber Marx’s theory, in-depth analysis and profoundcritique of capitalism of the country’s production and the destruction of theecological environment of the ecological crisis, and discusses the employment ofconception of future society and its basic characteristics of ecological marxism.Based on analyzing the theory, this paper focuses the research of theory of Pepper’seco-socialism on the value of the contemporary Chinese society, discusses the valueand limitation of the theory, not only can we learn value of socialism and ecologycombined together by Pepper,but also we should know strong color of idealism thatPepper constructed with the social ecological socialism.On this basis, the author tries to discuss the theoretical meanings of histhoughts, not only does it inherit Marx’s spirit of criticism, expanding the Marxdoctrine view of critique of capitalism, but also enriches the ecological socialismthought, deepening the connotations of socialism and our overall understanding ofthe socialist theory. And it gives us the inspiration of the theory of constructing thesocialism harmonious society and the construction of ecological civilization inChina.This theory inspires us to change the development of mode of economicdevelopment and ecological economy; strengthening the democratic construction atthe basic level, the establishment of a social security system of justice; to promotesocial justice, wary of ecological shift; in addition to strengthen environmental education to improve consciousness of citizens for China’s environmentalprotection, and promote the harmonious development of man and nature.
