Urban Transportation Ethical Considerations

Our country is municipal traffic has gained rapid development, with urbanization andindustrialization lion pushed fast forward since the reform and openness. However,traffic problems such as traffic jam, traffic accidents and traffic pollution,et have causedserious ethical tensions and problems. There for it is imperative to carry out deep thoughtson our city traffic for the ethical and philosophical height not only helps push forwardtraffic ethics academic prosperity but also helps promote our traffic isscientifically,harmonious and lasting development. For the time being, solve bothhome and abroad research city traffic problems mostly from engineering,sociologyeconomics,management science and other disciplines angle but seldom from ethicalperspective. Based on that, deep thought one carried out on city traffic from ethicalperspective in this thesis, which is aimed at making up for a lack of academic research oncity traffic ethic,pushing forward the development of city traffic ethic and providingtheoretical support for the city traffic ethic construction.Traffic is a city is artery.City traffic is more and more modern with acceleration ofurbanization.The modern city traffic shows three-dimensional, diversified andcomplicated characteristics. Traffic ethic as applied ethic, is the specific application ofgeneral ethic in the traffic practice. Traffic ethic is a science on the origin, essence andlaw of traffic all moral,stressing on research in to ethical relationship and ethical tensionsoccurred in the transportation of people and sea king effective measures to solve theproblems of traffic ethic. City traffic ethic is an important branch of traffic ethic, with thecharacteristics of complexity, hierarchy and dynamics, etc. It has the functions of valueorientation, moral strengthening and behavior guidance.Over the recent30years,our city traffic has achieved world-stunning success, butthere is a big gap between ours and the developed western countries. At present, a scienceof out-standing problems remain in our city traffic. For example,tensified accelerationin private cars, the traffic supply and demand tension, traffic jam and low speed, thetraffic efficiency loss, frequent traffic accidents, serious security problems, backwardpublic transport, low quality in service, severe pollution carried by traffic, andenvironment decoy,etc. Tensions and troubles. Ethical dilemmas facing our city trafficare as follows: first, the lack of humanistic city transportation, secondly, city trafficjustice encountered by challenge, thirdly the extrusion of, city public transportation fourthly, city traffic rights abuse,etc.This paper puts forward four ways to get rid of the ethical dilemmas of our citytraffic. First, the core of “people–oriented”must stand firm to strengthen the city traffichumanistic concern. Second the “bus priority”policy guidance must be adhered to, andpriority should be given to the development of public transportation, especially sailtransportation. Third, a “harmonious traffic” patterns must be built to realize the citytraffic system. Finally, governance strategy of both moral and low must be used toimprove the city traffic laws and the level of virtue.Compared with the other related papers, this paper has systematic, innovative,applicable characters and so on.
