Theory Of Combing And Protection Of Vernacular Architecture

As a rural human environment, conditions, and stage of life, and at the same time as the carrier and the elements of local culture, Vernacular architecture occupies an important position in the system of local culture in China. China is an agricultural country, vernacular architectures are very important in architectural heritage of China, so we can say that there is no vernacular architecture, China’s architectural history is not complete. Any practice needs a theory for reference and guidance, so it is necessary to tease out and research on conservation theory of vernacular architecture. This paper is the teasing out and research on vernacular architecture’s conservation theories.To tease out the development of the theory is important for the research on conservation of vernacular architecture. Many international charters and legal documents can reflect the idea of vernacular architecture’s conservation theory. Base on the international charters, the process of theory is divided into three stages, including early stage, middle stage and mature stage. Been influenced by western philosophy, the process in China is agreement. At the same time, process of vernacular architecture conservation theory is also influenced by the humanism, city diversity concept and the concept of sustainable development concept; which promote the theory of vernacular architecture conservation.Characteristics of vernacular architecture can led directly to the conservation’s particularity of vernacular architecture. Vernacular architecture is the product of geographical environment, natural need economic, rural life and reality, so the value of it cannot without the cognitive of vernacular’s characteristics, which determines that the conservation of vernacular architecture includes the protection of its environment, construction techniques, traditional culture, and also to coordinate the relationship between protection and development. The process of deepening in architectural features and the specificity of protection also reflects the process of the conservation theory of vernacular architecture.In addition, the research on the vernacular architecture conservation theory is from two aspects. Based on the mode of conservation, it can be divided into in-situ conservation, ex-situ conservation, and overall conservation. Based on the concept of conservation, it can be divided into static conservation, dynamic conservation and organic renewal theory. Each of such theory is on different emphasis, and can reflect different concept and idea of the theory.Vernacular architecture heritage protection theory system is quite large. In this paper, try to tease out and do research on the history and concept of vernacular architecture conservation theory, and hope to provide the basis for contemporary vernacular architecture conservation theory’s construction.
