Menopause Syndrome refers to women in perimenopausal period appearing series of physical and psychological symptoms because of hormone fluctuations or declines, it is also known as perimenopausal syndrome or climacteric syndrome. In clinic, in short-term it will be manifested as menstrual disorders, irregular menstrual cycles, long duration, the amount of menstrual increase or decrease, hot flashes, sweating, palpitations, headache, dizziness, tinnitus, insomnia, inattention, mood swings, irritability, anxiety or depression, not self-control, hypomnesis. In long-term, it will be manifested as vaginal dryness, dyspareunia, repeated vaginal infections, dysuria, urinary pain, urgent urination, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s Disease, Glucolipid metabolic abnormalities, arteriosclerosis, coronary atherosclerotic cardiopathy. Modern medicine considers the pathogeny of menopause syndrome related to neuroendocrine changes, reproductive endocrine-immune regulating function disorders, which are closely associated with hormone level directly. But with the exception of the above two factors, many experts argue that the pathogeny of menopause syndrome is also related to psychosocial factors, racial differences and other factors. Western Medicine generally give symptomatic treatment and hormone replacement therapy, to alleviate patients’body and mental symptoms. For hormones may bringing side effects, academic community evaluates HRT mixed optimism with pessimism. In traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), women in perimenopausal period suffer menstrual disorders or other discomforts, such as hot flashes, sweating, palpitations, insomnia, dizziness, tinnitus, irritability, facial and limb edema, soreness and weakness of waist and knees, emotion changes, we call it perimenopausal syndrome. Because of early or late it appears, long or short it lasts, hard or light it develops toward, it harms woman’s living quality less or more. When it exercises a bad influence on woman’s life, this must persecute her family a lot, which will become a new factor of disharmony to the peace of family and social. In Chinese ancient books there is no special paper recording the disease, but it is sporadicly seen as metrorrhagia in old age, hysteria, lily disease, metrorrhagia and metrostaxis, depression syndrome, palpitation, insomnia, edema, and etc. TCM holds the ideas that main pathogenesis of the disease is kidney. Imbalance of kidney Yin and Yang affects the function of heart, liver and spleen, making flaring up of heart fire, upper hyperactivity of liver yang, spleen deficiency, then resulting in a series of symptoms. In clinical.Chinese medicine has a remarkable effect on treating menopause syndrome. The formula pays close attention to tonifying kidney, meanwhile downbear heart fire, suppressing hyperactive liver and subsiding yang, soothing liver and strengthening spleen, which has better safety, less adverse reaction. Objective:After reading the literatures published in domestic public journals in nearly30years about the disease, this article sums up the frequently seen syndrome tapes and medication and explores the general regularity of dialectical methods and herbs to treat menopausal syndrome in traditional Chinese medicine.Method:Retrieve related articles about MPS from multiple databases, follow inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria, and finally pick out43papers, put the data listed within them into Microsoft Excel software and do much statistics and analysis work.Results:1. The frequently seen syndromes tapes of MPS are syndrome of yin deficiency of liver and kidney, syndrome of yin deficiency of kidney, syndrome of endogenous heat due to yin deficiency, syndrome of kidney deficiency and stagnation of liver qi, syndrome of disharmony between heart and kidney and others, and their ratio in the literatures of the study are separately39.53%,25.58%,9.30%,9.30%,9.30%,6.99%.2. The top30high frequent applied herbs are Shan zhu yu(Cornus officinalis Sieb), Shu di(Chinese Foxglove), Shan yao(Dioscorea opposita), Fu ling(Poria cocos Wolf), Nv zhen zi(Fructus Ligustri Lucidi), Bai shao(White Paeony Root), Han lian cao(Eclipta prostrata), Gan cao,(Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch), Chai hu(Bupleurum chinense), Mudan pi(Paeonia suffruticosa Andr), Sheng di(Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch), Gou qi zi(fructus lycii), Suan zao ren(Ziziphus jujuba Mill. var. spinosa), Tu si zi(Cuscuta chinensis), Zhi mu (Anemarrhena asphodeloides), Mu li (ostrea gigas thunberg), Mai dong(Ophiopogon japonicus), Bai he(Lilium brownii var. viridulum), Yu jin(Curcuma aromatica Salisb), Xiao mai(Triticum aestivumLinn.), Long gu(OsDraconis), Dang gui(Angelica sinensis), Fu xiao mai(Blighted Wheat), He shou wu(Fallopia multiflora), Wu wei zi (Schisandra chinensis), Yin yang huo (Epimedium brevicornu Maxim.), Huang bo(Cortex Phellodendri Chinensis), Ze xie(Alisma plantago-aquatica), Da zao(zizyphus), Gui jia(Carapax et Plastrum Testudinis)。3. From the view of channel tropism, the prescription herbs are mostly directed to kidney, liver, heart, accounting51.19%,42.86%,38.10%, while spleen, lung, stomach, gall bladder, large intestine, bladder, pericardium, san jiao claim32.14%,32.14%,23.81%,9.52%,9.52%,4.76%,3.57%,3.57%, respectively. From the point of four nature of drugs, the warm-natured accounts for23.81%, while calm-natured22.62%, cold-natured20.24%, small cold-natured14.29%, tepor-natured9.52%, cool-natured7.14%, hot-natured2.38%. The frequently seen syndromes tapes of MPS are syndrome of yin deficiency of liver and kidney, syndrome of yin deficiency of kidney, syndrome of endogenous heat due to yin deficiency, syndrome of kidney deficiency and stagnation of liver qi, syndrome of disharmony between heart and kidney and others.2. Treatment based on syndrome differentiation considers kidney first, and next liver, heart, spleen. The nature of the disease is given priority to Yin deficiency, with cold-heat complication. Therapeutic method mainly nourishes liver and kidney, and calms the nerves, reliefs liver for smooth Qi, eliminates phlegm, removes blood stasis. When create a formula, sweet drugs tonify deficiency, balance Yin and Yang. Do not clear heat with bitter and cold drugs to prevent to damage yang. Also, do not warm the cold with hot drugs which will consume Yin and blood.
