Traditional teaching mode (Presentation-Practice-Production) has been taking a dominant stage in the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, which restrains the improvement of the learners’ communicative competence. Based on the theories and practice achievements of task-based teaching method both at home and abroad, combining the characteristics of the primary short-term course and teaching current situation, the paper discusses the suitable principles and implementation process of task-based teaching for teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Meanwhile, the thesis conducts a study of task-based classroom teaching mode through concrete teaching case studies, questionnaires, additional test tasks and interview with students in a variety of ways, aiming to explore the application the of task-based language teaching in primary short-term course.Research results show that the task-based language teaching method can maximize the balance of learners attention to language form and language meaning, which is conducive to arouse learners’ intrinsic motivation, to cultivate capability to solve communication problems, to explore language rules, thus ultimately achieving the goal of improve learners’Chinese language application and communication ability.On the basis of experimental results, finally, the paper pust forward suggestions to textbook writing and teacher training from task-based language teaching model, which tend to play a positive role in the implementation stage of taeching Chinese as a foreign language.
