At the same time, Chinese rock music, makes the mainland pop music to glow the newvitality, And Chinese rock music in1980s is a typical representative of the cultural fusion,representing the first attempt to rock localization. And it has important reference value incomposition and lyrics. Influenced by the particular culture trend at that time, Chinese rockmusic in1980s, understood the important task of the enlightenment. It enlightened the peoplewho lived in the period of social transition and were in the spirit of barren state. While as a kindof subculture, after introduced into China mainland, the content of its character must be differentfrom the rock in west, under the influence of various factors, such as the historical background,social environment, cultural tradition, and so on.Based on existing research results, the article mainly explores artistic characteristics,cultural function, cultural characteristics, historical influence and practical significance. Thisarticle consists of four parts. The first chapter gives a brief analysis of the conditions whichpromote Chinese rock music producing, and reviewed10years of development history fromrock introduced in the early1980s to the late1980s. The second chapter focuses on analysis ofits music and lyrics.And this part summarized the artistic features of the Chinese rock music inthe1980s. In the music, Chinese rock music in the1980s starts rock localization by joining thenational Musical Instruments, using national mode and the adaptation of the traditional songs. Inaddition, it also joined the rap factor in rock songs, and in order to highlight the rhythm of themusic, it uses the up-tempo pace, strengthens the rhythm function of the instruments and writessongs about Heavy metal. About the lyrics, Chinese rock music’s content is primarily concernedwith three aspects, including the reflection of history and tradition, the concern for individualsurvival state, and the pursuit of self. The words are original, but they have deep meaning andalso contain humanistic care.The third chapter is about the cultural analysis of Chinese rock music in the1980s. It can bedivided into two parts. The first part is written to explaining the enlightenment meaning ofChinese rock music in the1980s, in the two aspects of aesthetic and ideological. At the aesthetic level, it relieved and released people’s mixed feelings, and it made people get the spirit of joy. Atthe same time, it satisfies people’s aesthetic demand, and promoting the establishment of newaesthetic experience. For mainland pop music creators, its modern rock thinking inspired theirmusic creation. In the ideological level, the enlightenment mainly consists of two aspects. One isthe pursuit of human nature through the criticism and the reflection. Two is the personalityenlightenment for people, especially for the youth, by disseminating the advocacy ofhumanitarian, liberation of personality and other advanced thought,. The second part of thischapter summarizes its unique characteristics as a kind of subculture. The characteristics are therebellion of moderation and strong borderline. And exposing the reason of which it has the twocharacteristics. The fourth chapter sums up historical influence and practical significance onChinese rock music in the1980s.This part contains three aspects, including its vital role in themainland pop music, the influence for Chinese rock music in the1990s and the enlightenmentfor Chinese rock music now.
