How to mobilize students’ initiative and interest to learn Chinese as a foreign language is a very important topic. Since1950China started Chinese education as a foreign language, with education skill’s expanding, front-line teachers also tried to apply a variety of educational theory and teaching methods to teaching practices in order to improve teaching effectiveness. The use of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in theater pedagogy may provide some insights to this topic. This article, the author mainly explores usage of educational drama in the practice of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Based on existing research basis, the author found some problems:lack of overall planning and support, lack of specific professional teacher artistic director, played down the dramatic practical exercises, and lack of art ability. So, to enhance the effectiveness of teaching, it is need to train teacher’s organizational skills of theater design through practice. The main part of this paper systematically explains some key points of theater design:first, it should be education object-oriented, and then teachers should pay attention to the clarity of purpose, closely link to the principle of theme and focus on theme. In the designing process teachers should pay attention to proper integration practices, places, persons, relationships, these elements make education drama to achieve the desired results. At the same time as a form of drama education in the designed process, in order to increase the artistic and attractive of educational theater, teachers also should notice that the form of scripts, views and tension. It is useful of solving the most intractable problems of the reality of teaching activities. Finally, with the real education experience and theory elements designed a typical case of lesson plans. The author believes that the introduction of Chinese as a second language teaching is a positive attempt to explore innovative teaching methods of the Chinese drama.
