Owing to linguistic features of Korean, there are multitudes of subordinating conjunctions which cause much trouble in teachers’teaching and learners’learning. Especially the subordinating conjunction "(?)", with various meaning and complex usages, it is a difficulty for learners and a tough job for teachers. This thesis aims to analyze the errors which students make during sentence-making with "-(?)" in a bid to find out learners’difficult points and weak points. Combining the limited linguistic and grammatical knowledge and SLA theories which writer has learnt, the writer intends to provide guidance for learners’learning. In the mean while, resorting to pedagogical theories, the writer would like to offer humble views to teachers. The thesis structure is as follows:Chapter one draws a picture for the thesis, involving the purposes of the thesis, literature review related to this field and methodology. And the methodology includes subjects, instruments, methodologies as well as procedure.Chapter two, with reference to other researchers’ontological study of grammar on subordinating conjunction "(?)", offers a description of grammatical features in terms of morphology, syntax, semantics and various meanings governed by syntactical rules. Description of features of subordinating conjunctions "(?)(?)" will be an important criterion of whether a sentence is right or wrong.Chapter three lists some sentences which writers collected for error analysis. First, this chapter discriminates error from mistake and discusses theoretical background of error analysis. Then the writer selects mistaken sentences and classifies them from morphology, syntax and misusages of similar subordinating conjunctions, analyzing and correcting the errors for each class and comprehensively analyzing the reasons for errors.Chapter four, based on the research results, explores the ways of learning for learners and teaching methods for teachers. A teaching plan is also offered. Chapter five draws conclusion and summarizes the thesis. Limitations of the study are listed for further researches.
