| The concept of soft power was put forward and was recognized by the international academic community in the 1990s, because this new perspective was adapt to the complexity of international exchanges and the competition in the background of globalization. I tried to grasp the theoretical and practical significance of Chinese soft power.The article of the main structure is divided into five sections. The first part, First of all, I analyzed the concept of soft power based on my understanding of the soft power. Then, I analyzed the significance of the importance of research and development of soft power at this stage, combined with the new requirements of globalization to Comprehensive national strength and characteristics of China's development. The second part, I analyzed the constituent elements of soft power and the five characteristics: attractability, non-monopolistic, non-confrontationist and dependent hidden features.The third part, I analyzed the opportunities and challenges of construction soft power in china.The forth part, I analyzed the principles of building soft power, that is the principle of opening up, the principle of innovation and the principles of Chinese characteristics.The fifth part, I proposed some opinions and recommendations of construction soft power, guided by these principles and combined with the historical background. The last part of the article, I put forward my hope of the construction of China's soft power.
