Ethnic Identity And Unity Of Citizens Agree

Modern society is a pluralistic society, each of us is a collection of multiple identities. Most countries in the world are multinational countries. Within countries there are two kinds of identity:One is ethnic identity, which is the recognition to the common culture of the ethnic, the other one is civic identity, which contains public cultural and legal recognition. every multinational country has the dilemma of ethnic identity and civic identity. Because of the particularity of identity, ethnic minorities members has two different identities when they participate in politics, ethnic identity and civic identity. The two different recognitions have great effects, not only in increasing the enthusiasm of minority people to participate in politics, but also of great significance to safeguard national stability and national unity. Political socialization is through the interaction of the individual and society, the individual "biological" become a qualified political, participate in political life and bear civic responsibility. Ethnic identity that connected by a common culture, is an innate cultural identity. In the political process of socialization, strengthening ethnic identity, is beneficial to minority individuals to build a better understanding of themselves and other groups, and the relationship between the ethnic groups and states, but also conducive to let the minority realize their special interests more clearly, and to promote the development of the nation’s own. Civic identity, connected by the law and public culture, is a symbol that ethnic minorities individual become "political", by political socialization, minority individuals accepted the mainstream political culture, and integrate into the country’s political system in a better way. They can participate in politics rationally within the extent permitted by the system, and can express their demands legally. In this way ethnic minority will achieve their own interests, and at the same time, it pushes both the democratization of the country and the process of legalization.This paper tries to focus on two identities, and conduct the ethnic minority individual to implement political socialization based on the two identities. First, about the two identities, this paper attempts to explain the relationship between ethnic identity and civic identity. It will start with the identity of self-identity and others identity. And then it will analysis the identity from three dimensions that are culture, philosophy and political. The paper will get a conclusion that the two identities are linked and come to be a unity, which is a collection of tension and unified. Therefore, in the attitude towards double identity can not be biased one. Secondly under the guidance of this theory, this paper tries to guide minority individuals to implement political socialization. We belong to the society. The process of personal and social interaction is the process of socialization. When the process involve the political area, it becomes the political socialization. Political Socialization will strengthen political identity, integrate political culture, shape the political figures and maintain social stability. Political socialization of minority has a great influence in both ethnic political subculture and mainstream political culture, and it is in favor of the multinational country stability and unity. Many factors affect individuals in the process of political socialization. This paper attempts to start with analyzing the factors, including the economic, political, cultural and other factors. Meantime, it will propose the corresponding political socialization countermeasures.
