How to effectively promote the work performance of the civil service is an important issue of the current common concern in the field of public administration. Based on the theory of public service motivation, the article takes the civil service as a research object. Carrying on the localization through the empirical analysis method of the public service motive of study, it researches the relationships between public service motivation and work performance of the civil service, and tries to seek effective ways to enhance the performance of civil servants from the new perspective of public service motivation. This study adopted a questionnaire approach:it provided800questionnaires to the officials in Fujian Province and recycled653effective questionnaires effectively. Through the sample, the survey finds that public service motivation of civil servants are made up by four dimension constitutions-----attraction to policymaking, commitment to the public interest, self-sacrifice and awareness of democratic governance; Differences on the personal backgrounds have had an influence to a certain extent on public service motivation and work performance of the civil service; Public service motivation significantly helps and gives a positive effect on the overall performance. On this basis, making policy recommendations from these three levels:the civil service personnel selection, personnel training, Personnel performance appraisal, these studies help to provide a useful inspiration for civil service performances.
