The rapid development of economy and society is accelerating the pace of our modern life. more and more people are suffering from the increasing pressure and burden from work. People are getting more and more concerned with the realization of their values via the development and prospect of their career. However, what the gap between expectation and reality, as well as the heavy burden and the complex interpersonal relationship bring to modern people is the consequence of job burnout. Once it happened, not only the individual himself (or herself)will suffer from physical and mental disease, but also some negative impact on the organization and service that they provided would occur. Civil servant, according to the survey, is a group that is suffering from serious job burnout, and, this will badly affect the public services that they provided. Thus the study of the phenomenon of civil servant’s job burnout is quite necessary and should attract more attention both from the researchers and the society.The ideas of research designing and assumptions are based on the existing and related researches. Through depth interview of20civil servants in Xi’an, we came out and analyzed the basic burnout factors, and with the reference of Maslach Burnout Inventory, designed the questionnaires that are suitable for this research. After being tested of the validity and reliability, these questionnaires were sent to200civil servants, and176effective samples were collected. By using the statistical methods of factor analysis, the significant analysis, correlation analysis of the collected data, the following conclusions were presented:1,53%of the civil servants were suffering from moderate job burnout, and more than40%of civil servants were in the level of high job burnout, only a few respondents showed slight or no obvious phenomenon of job burnout.2, demographic factors such as age, educational level, type of duty, etc are closely related to the level of job burnout.3, workload, social expectations, interpersonal relations, personal interests, social status and other factors have predictive influence on civil servant’s job burnout. At last, the paper put forward some possible intervention mechanism measures to help prevent and solve the problem of civil servants’ job burnout based on the analysis of job burnout reasons from three aspects: individual, government and the society.
