Objectives: Through the study of personality characteristics, perceived stress and coping styles and their relationship of the Armed Police Officers and Soldiers,we explored the influencing factors of perceived stress and coping styles, aim to reducing the perceived stress and improving coping styles, improving the level of mental health and fighting capacity of the Armed Police Officers and Soldiers.Methods:596Armed Police Officers and Soldiers of Hunan Provence were surveyed by EPQ,Perceived Stress Scale and Coping Styles Questionnaire,SPSS16.0and AMOS17.0were used to analysis the data collected.Results:(1)Among the personality characteristics of the Armed Police Officers and Soldiers,introversion-extroversion level is significant higher than the norm,neuroticism is significant lower than the norm;different personality types of Armed Police Officers and Soldiers has different levels of perceived stress and types of coping styles; the personality characteristics has significant differences on demographic variables.(2)The level of perceived stress was lower than mid-level,but there were also34.2%Armed Police Officers and Soldiers perceived higher pressure;the perceived stress has significant differences on demographic variables.(3)The Armed Police Officers and Soldiers use more mature coping styles than immature coping styles,the score of problem solving and seeking help is significant higher than the norm,the score of self blame,Fantasy,retreat and rationalization is significant lower than the norm;coping styles has significant differences on demographic variables.(4)There were significant negatively correlation between introversion-extroversion and perceived stress,but significant positively correlation between psychoticism&neuroticism and perceived stress;there were significant positively correlation between introversion-extroversion and mature coping styles,there were significant negatively correlation between psychoticism&neuroticism and mature coping styles,but significant positively correlation between psychoticism&neuroticism and immature coping styles;there were significant negatively correlation between perceived stress and mature coping styles,but significant positively correlation between perceived stress and immature coping styles.(5)Neuroticism could positively predict perceived stress,introversion-extroversion could negatively predict perceived stress;introversion-extroversion could positively predict mature coping styles and psychoticism could negatively predict mature coping styles, psychoticism&neuroticism could positively predict immature coping styles;perceived stress could positively predict immature coping styles but negatively predict mature coping styles.(6)The mediator effect test showed that the perceived stress was a partly mediator between personality characteristics and coping styles.
