With the development of urbanization, the government pays more and more attention to capacity building training of farmers. The training for farmers has never been interrupted since the founding of the new China early. The training is the key of new rural construction in China. Currently, although there are a lot of trainings, covering a variety of areas, and teachers of trainings has grown. But the training effect is still not satisfactory.Through a survey of a specialized F training institution for farmers, this paper analyzes the problems existing in current training process. Now, the training methods for the farmers and acceptable manners are inconsistent, which causes that farmers even receive training, but don’t get the desired effect. The training methods provided by the F institution are mainly based on instruction, classroom education. Some of the practical skills trainings are provided in the farmland. The farmers have some difficulties in receiving trainings, which is mainly reflected in that they cannot concentrate in the classroom, cannot keep track of the schedule, are not accustomed to multimedia teaching methods. To address this issue, the group work method is applied to farmer training. Group work has the ability of capacity building, making the members of the community social, solving problems and helping members grow and achieve its social value. Using the characteristics of group work, this paper explores appropriate methods of farmers training. Taking F institute as an example, this paper investigates and evaluates the needs of farmers training. Then, combining farmers training with group activities, this paper makes a tentative research on farmers training in the form of group work. The training process is recorded and the effect of the training evaluated. Finally, the application of group work in farmers training is reflected and summarized. The experience of applying group work in farmers is concluded. This paper provides a reference for further research on the application of group work in farmers training.
