The Limitation and Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from International shipping, refers to the institution about limiting and reducing the emissions of Greenhouse Gas from international shipping, which takes the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as the core, based on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and mainly take the ships travel between countries as its object at present.About the limitation and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping, IMO tends to build up a global institution, and the efforts of IMO now have worldwide influence. As a country with great shipbuilding industry and shipping business, China should attach the importance to the limitation and reduction of greenhouse gas from international shipping, in order to help the country’s shipbuilding industry, shipping business, and other relating industries be well prepared for the new rules about international limitation and reduction measures, and fulfill China’s responsibilities as a trustworthy and responsible great power.Since the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) have deep connection with the limitation and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping, the thesis starts with introduction of UNFCCC and IMO’s work about measures of limitation and reduction of greenhouse gas from international shipping. After a brief introduction, the thesis turn to analysis of law problems about principles and specific systems of limitation and reduction institutions under UNFCCC and IMO’s work, tried to point out shortcomings and bring out solutions. At last, the thesis concluded the effects that IMO’s work on limitation and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping has brought to China, and offered suggestions on what China can do about limitation and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping.
