The Transformation From The Role Of Duangong To The Peforming Elite Of Tujia Nuoxi Opera

Nuoxi opera has gained much academic attention as an excellent folk art sincethe1980’s. This study mainly studies the transformation of Tan Xuechao from the roleof Duangong in Tujia opera to the elite of Nuoxi opera beginning form the perspectiveof the historical, cultural and ecological environment combining with his performingexperiences, using the field investigation method to visit one county of Enshi namedSancha in the form of field investigation, observation, interview and the questionnairesurvey.Through the analysis of the case of the change of the role of Tan Xuechao, Itmainly discusses the reconstruction and transformation method of minority traditionalarts and cultural resources.This study is divided into the following five sections:The first part: to know the bacic situation of Nuoxi opera research home andabroad and find the research value and path of Enshi local Nuo culture opera.The second part: to introduce the role of Tan Xuechao as the Duangong, define therole of Duangong from the Tujia religion concept and analyze Tan Xuechao’s relevantworking experience and factors for Tan Xuechao’s competence.The third part: to analyze the transformation process of Tan Xuechao fromDuangong to Nuoxi opera and describe the change of ecological culture environmentcomparing the similarities and differences between two roles.The fourth part: to discuss the internal causes of the change during thetransformation of role: one is that he adjusts themselves actively and keeps pace withthe times, On the reconstruction of Nuo: another reason is that he tries to discovertheir talents, self-reflection, improve, develop Nuoxi opera masks skills and enhancemystique and good visual appreciation of exorcising opera performances.The fifth part: to discuss the external causes of the change during thetransformation of role. It thinks that the different cultural policy in different historicalperiods, the change of people’s demands as social development and factors ofresearchers prompted the shrinking of DuanGong market and the development ofNuoxi opera, which caused the attention of the people to the traditional culture and art, thus leading to the development of the market of Nuoxi opera.Finally, this study considers that protection of the traditional culture of ethnicminorities should pay attention to the reconstruction of traditional crafts andtransformation of cultural resources, exert fully the government’s inner impetus andthe power of heritage people, so that the traditional culture resources can not onlymaintain the traditional core without losing the essence, but also conform todevelopment of times changes, injecting new vitality.
