Inner party democracy is the life of the party, all kinds of party which want todevelop attaches great importance to inner-party democracy, including theKuomintang (KMT). Before the1980s, the Kuomintang in Taiwan carry out theone-party dictatorship and personal dictatorship, making no contribution to theinner-party democracy, in a manner of speaking that there is no democracy within theparty. However, in order to respond to the changes of the environmental requirementsin and out of the party and the island, the Kuomintang (KMT), at the beginning in the80s until the beginning of new century, conducting the inner-party democracy reformfor many times, through these reform makes the Kuomintang gradually improvethemselves and tend to be democratic.Therefore, this article basis on theory of the party and inner-party democracy,combing the process of the democratic reform of the Kuomintang party in Taiwansince the80s, including each stage of the background, contents and characteristics ofinner-party democratic reforms. Analyzing the impact of Taiwan’s Kuomintang partydemocratic reform as well as the experience and lessons since the80s and puttingforward several suggestions about the construction of intra-party democracy of thecommunist party of China.
