The Study On The Tujue Monthly Periodical Of Hui And Its Hui’s Education Thought During The Republic Of China

The Tujue Monthly Periodical was a Hui-Islamic academic publication which established in Nanjing Central Political School by Hui’s young students in the may,1934. This periodical’s purpose is to "arouse Chinese Hui peple, promote Hui-Islamic doctrine, advocate Hui’s education and contact Islamic nationalities". Before the Anti-Japanese War and during this period, this periodical was a prestigious Hui-Islamic newspaper in the Chinese Hui-Islamic study field.This periodical which has been published71issues in the ten years experienced a period of booming development in xiaozhuang, a period of displaced in lushan and zhijiang, a period of hard existence in jieshi and xiaowenquan. Its main writers were Hui’s students and Hui’s young educators. It had abundant columns and content which were about Hui’s education, ethnic consciousness, the patriotism ideology, the history and culture of Islam, the doctrine and dogma of Islam, the investigations of Islam at home and abroad and other news. It is an important basis of the study on Hui-Islamic culture and Hui’s education.Hui’s education was the core area of this periodical, they believed that the development of Hui’s education was a precondition for all business’ development of Hui in this periodical. They advocated developing school education of Hui, improving mosque education, reforming education system, editing standard textbook, taking the religious education and the national education into account. They thought that Hui’s education was a special education,because its education was based on Hui ethnic group. This education must be aimed to train person with ability that meet the needs of Hui society and could pay attention to religious knowledge, national knowledge and natural science knowledge. It has to adapt to Chinese actual conditions and meet the requirements of Hui’s production and life. They expected that the development of Hui’s education could eliminate poverty and ignorance,promote the development of Hui and the salvation of the country.Their educational thought contained pragmatism, national ideology, patriotism and religion. But because of the lack of funds and talents, the ingrain notion of the populace that was difficult to transform, and also the turbulent political situation, their propositions were hard to fully realized.
