After the Cold War period, the shift of the major international conflicts resulted in a surge of international terrorism activities with new characteristics. It is obvious that an increasing number of these activities were caused by national separatism, religious conflicts as well as territorial dissensions. And most of them happened in Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, the Former Soviet Union and the East Europe. In China, a terrorist force in the Xinjiang region called "East Tujue" advocates "the independence of East Tujuestan". "East Tujue"carried out series of religious extremist terrorism measures in attempt to separate Xinjing region from the Mainland China. The activities of "East Tujue" created a serious threat to the integrity of China. On September 11th 2001, the United States experienced a most severe terrorism attack in history. The event was telling the global community that International Terrorism has become a major threat to the international peace and security. The conflict between Terrorism and Anti-terrorism is now one of the most noticeable issues in the global affaires. The development of this conflict would surely cast direct and profound influence on the international framework of economy and politics.International Terrorism activities have caused enormous loss of lives and wealth in the world countries. It draws a lot of negative effect on the political stability, economy and social development. International Terrorism is now one of the most important topics in the research field of Modern International Relationship. The international community, while fiercely reprimanding International Terrorism, is now in search of the root of it and seeking the countermeasures to combat it. These efforts are of great value to the academe and practical significance to the governments in different countries.The dissertation is developed into five chapters. Chapter One analyzed the basic features of International Terrorism and offered atentative definition of it; Chapter Two categorized the contemporary International Terrorism based on the description of the major types of Terrorism organizations; Chapter Three, on the basis of the previous two chapters, makes a prediction concerning the conspicuous characteristics of the International Terrorism activities in the near future and their tendency in the years to come; Chapter Four does a tentative exploration on the major causes of the contemporary International Terrorism; Chapter Five is the most important part of this dissertation. Since contemporary Terrorism activities are drawing negative influence on the world security and economy, especially the national security of China, now it comes to a time that the eradication of Terrorism is an utmost necessity. Based on all these thoughts, this chapter put forward our attitude and countermeasures toward Terrorism activities.
