Research On Social Work Service Model Under The Aged Condition

As our country’s population is rapidly aging and the family’s ability to care fortheir old decreases, elderly caring institutions are becoming a more popular choice formany elderly people. Elders choose their institutions based on their different needs.This article explores this topic by examining an elderly caring institution in Beijing,and has through observations and interviews come up with three main conclusions:the elderly are satisfied with the overall service provided by the institution, but theservices do not affectively address the their needs; there is an abundant resource ofvoluntary services, but lacks the appropriate management; the institution highlyvalues the personnel, but still has problems such as the unprofessional performancefrom its workers. With the above-mentioned in mind, this article analyzes the currentstate of social services, and designs a proposal, from a demand point of view, forsocial services with three main aspects: an effective management of the volunteers fora maximized usage of elderly care resources; professional training on various aspectsto meet the demand of the elderly; initiate the arrangements of social servicesactivities involving the care takers as well as the families of the elderly in order tostrengthen social support mechanism.
