Today, development of the higher education in China tends to be diverse. Andwith ten years’ development, the independent institute, the special and novel schoolpattern of higher education has taken shape. By the end of2010, there are323independent institutes, with more than2.62million students at school, which provesthat the independent institute, as the carrier and reflection of higher educationpopularization, has been a very important part of the higher education. Theindependent institute is featured with capital source, teachers’ structure, teaching,student pool, etc., and among all these, the quality of teaching is the core for theindependent institute to develop constantly.Therefore it is the principle for theindependent institute to keep and promote the standard of teaching to educate moreapplied talents.With all mentioned above and the experience of independent institutes in Tianjin,it is obvious that it is the mission for all teaching staff of the higher education to findout the best practical teaching model for the independent institute. Based on morepractical teaching and learning, students may firmly master the professionalknowledge and skills, and deeply understand the theory. The practical teaching mayhelp the students have better understanding of the theory in real life and improve theirabilities of understanding and solving problems, which emphasizes the importance ofpractical teaching. the practical teaching may promote the conversion of teaching,research and knowledge, offer them development space both in and outside collegeand make it real to cultivate more applied talents.This thesis has five chapters. The first chapter of introduction explored thebackground information and the significance of the topic. Chapter two introducesd thetheoretical background, and in particular analyzed the theory and the influentialfactors of the practical teaching. Based on the analysis of the survey of theindependent institutes in Tianjin, chapter three discussed the development of theindependent institute, and draws good experiences and methods. Chapter fourexamined the problems and possible causes in the practice of the practical teaching interms of specific cases. Chapter five provided some solutions and suggestions, whichmay help improve the development of the practical teaching of the independentinstitute.
