Objective: In order to probe the effectiveness and mechanism of Health Qigong on staticbalance ability, the indicators of static balance ability and bone metabolism and blood lipids weretested in postmenopausal women.Methods:40postmenopausal women subjects aged45to65years were recruited in thestudy. All subjects untrained were divided into control group (CG, n=10, common communities)and Health Qigong group (HG, n=16, new trainee in fitness station). After the professionaltraining of Health Qigong-Ba duanjin, Yi jinjing, Wu qinxi and Liu zijue, gave a sustainedexercise of Health Qigong for eight months. Before and after the eight months of exercise, thepaper tested the indexes of single-foot support ability, reaction time, six different states of eyeopen/close single foot/two foot standing of Mean X Distance, Length X, Mean X Speed, DistanceX, Mean Y Distance, Length Y, Mean Y Speed, Distance Y, Square length, Speed Torque, thelevels of serum calcium(Ca), alkaline phosphatase (AKP), tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase(TRAP), the values of calcaneal bone ultrasound attenuation (BUA), Cholesterol (TC),Triglycerides (TG), Direct HDL-Cholesterol (D-HDL-C).Result: It was observed that after eight months exercise(,1)compared with itself, there weresignificantly improvement in single-foot support ability (P<0.01), and significantly decrease inreaction time(P<0.01), and significantly decrease except for Mean X Distance, Mean Y Distance,Square length in the state of eye open two foot standing(P<0.05or P<0.01), and significantlydecrease except for Mean Y Distance, Distance Y, Square length in the state of eye open left footstanding(P<0.05or P<0.01), and significantly decrease except for Square length in the state ofeye open right foot standing (P<0.05or P<0.01), and significantly decrease in Mean X Distance,Length X, Mean X Speed, Distance Y in the state of eye close two foot standing(P<0.05), andsignificantly decrease in Mean X Distance, Distance Y, Square length in the state of eye closeleft foot standing(P<0.05), and significantly decrease in Distance Y in the state of eye close rightfoot standing(P<0.05),Ca, TRAP, TC, TG (P<0.05), and significantly improvement in D-HDL-C(P<0.05) in the HG;(2)compared with the CG, there were significantly improvement insingle-foot support ability (P<0.01), and significantly decrease except for Mean X Distance,Mean Y Distance in the state of eye open two foot standing(P<0.05or P<0.01), and significantlydecrease except for Mean Y Distance, Square length in the state of eye open left footstanding(P<0.05), and significantly decrease except for Mean Y Distance Length Y, Mean Y Speed, Square length in the state of eye open right foot standing(P<0.05), and significantlydecrease in Length X, Mean X Speed, Distance Y in the state of eye close two footstanding(P<0.05), and significantly decrease in Mean X Distance, Distance Y in the state of eyeclose left foot standing(P<0.05), and significantly decrease in Square length in the state of eyeclose right foot standing(P<0.05),Ca, AKP (P<0.05), TRAP(P<0.01), TC, TG (P<0.01), andsignificantly improvement in D-HDL-C in the HG (P<0.05).Conclusion: Health Qigong is a medium intensity aerobic exercise. The results show thatlong-term Health Qigong exercise might play a role on keeping and improving static balanceability in postmenopausal women. As the same time, the good effects on bone metabolism andblood lipids may be one of the reasons contributing to improve their static balance ability.
