| Aerobics is a kind of sports, under the accompaniment of music, with physical exercise as basic approaches and aerobic exercise as basis, to improve health, body shape or used as entertainment. Though born just at the beginning of the20th century, it has enjoyed a legendary growth.Under the new context of the times, which is comprehensive development of higher education, the development orientation of Physical Education in Higher Learning Institutions is defined as "Happy Sport" and "sunshine sports" education.Nowadays, students are pursuing fashion, novelty, and personality development; therefore, aerobics caters such need of college students, and aerobics classes are popular and well received by students. There have been different forms of aerobics entering the universities and colleges, including fitness aerobics, Latin aerobics, street dance, boxing, yoga and others, making the content of aerobics more colorful, and more students are electing aerobics as an elective course.But there is not an even distribution of genders of students who participated in such sport; male students are not very interested in taking aerobics as an elective course.Such a tendency is bound to affect the popularity and development of aerobics in a negative manner, neither is it conducive to the promotion and enhancement of aerobics. However, from investigations, it can be seen that most of the male students like aerobics. Due to the requirements of aerobics on coordination, flexibility and rhythm, male students are afraid to learn it, or worried they are not good looking when doing aerobics, so very few of them elect Aerobics. How to make aerobics more attractive to attract more male students to learn it has become a serious concern for teachers on aerobics in colleges and universities.In this study, the author conducts a research on the current conditions of male students in universities and college who take aerobics as an elective course in means of questionnaires, interviews, literature reviews and etc. In such a manner, the author analyzes factors influencing male students to elect aerobatics as an elective course, and gets some findings, upon which the authors points out the idea of a comprehensive aerobatics course for male students. In other words, on the basis of existing aerobatics courses, more posts and strengths, different from the body building, are added to form a comprehensive aerobatics course.Improved aerobics classes will fit male students’physiological and psychological characteristics, and bring more male students to take part in aerobatics. Then, what are followed are reforms on teaching content, teaching methods, evaluation methods and such to improve the quality of male aerobics teaching.This study suggests that aerobics teachers shall actively promote the reform of male aerobics classes, and apply aerobics fitness as an integrated course. In practice, teachers shall actively explore more applicable teaching content, teaching methods and teaching delivery for male aerobics, always grasping the physiological and psychological characteristics of male students to promote the reform of male aerobics teaching. |
