Geography is the study of the relationship between geographicalenvironment and human activities and geographical environment science, spacesex is one of the characteristics of it. Map is an organic part of geographysubject, geography of the second language. Junior high school students’ mentalmap construction is required in today’s globalization era, is also a newgeography curriculum reform, is the inevitable requirement of individualphysical and mental development. The current middle school geographyteaching, the cultivation of student’s mental map there are many unsatisfactoryplace, the direct impact on the development of students ability to map. Therefore,this article USES the literature analytic method, curriculum reading method,questionnaire survey method, experimental method, such as research methods,in order to join learning theory, cognitive learning theory, constructivismlearning theory, multiple intelligence theory as the theoretical basis, map literacyof junior high school students in existing and new curriculum standard to do theanalysis, combining theory with practice, and from the aspects of teachers andstudents put forward the strategy of the junior middle school students’ mentalmap construction.Through analysis and research, in this paper, the basic conclusion is:1.To build "mental map" of the relevant literature of inductive summary,draws my own cognitive mental map meaning, which contains a variety ofgeographic information maps in the brain after a proper sorting andsummarizing, the form of representation;2. Through the way of questionnaire, found that the present situation ofmental map of junior middle school students is not optimistic, mainly displays in:(1) map of junior middle school students learning initiative is not strong, theunderstanding of map only stay at the perceptual level, didn’t rise to the rationallevel;(2) the junior high school students to read maps, map and spatial ability lack;(3) the junior high school students’ ability to map individual difference isobvious, therefore, in the teaching process should be according to their aptitude;3. The cultivation of junior middle school students mental map is acomplete process, the construction of a mental map should follow students’cognitive law, the specific strategies include: teachers’ guide and promote role;Students in the cultivation of good habits of reading the chart and graph;Students’ mental maps of the input.
