With the development of the times, quality-oriented education hasbecome the inevitable trend of social development. High school art class is animportant part of quality education, and is the key to the national culturedevelopment and prosperity. Aesthetic education is a process of unconsciousinfluence, and at the same time, students also need to really feel beauty andget close to beauty. Hands-on practice is one of the important processes in art.In sense, perception will make people have a true feeling--"beauty".Sketch teaching has a strong practicality, both independent and basic. Inthe modern sketch teaching, there is diversity in teaching methods, materialsand topics, which is very suitable for the local economic base and teachingage groups. Besides, high school students can think more logically, broadlyand actively. They have stronger perceptibility and practical ability than thestudents in the junior middle school and elementary school. So it is suitablefor high school students to carry out universal sketch teaching. In the local high school art teaching, only a small number of art studentsare learning sketching, while others don’t know about it at all, even thesimplest knowledge. This is a kind of exam-oriented education mode. In thehigh school art appreciation course, students are only told something aboutworks background. Teachers teach mechanically and just explain some simplelaws of beauty, which makes it difficult to arouse students’ resonance. Thus, teaching becomes a mere formality. In the teaching course, the author feelsthat practice is a most important way to feel beauty. The connotation offormal beauty can only be truly experienced in painting practice. By practice, students can understand observation difference from different angles, the lawof unity of changes and how to express thoughts and emotions. The authorcombines the division between the traditional sketch teaching in the collegeentrance examination and the high school art appreciation, and has obtainedcertain effect of classroom practice. In high school art appreciation teaching practice, sketch teaching isintroduced to stimulate students’ emotional resonance, change the students’observation methods, and exert a subtle influence on changing ways ofthinking. It makes students to feel the different beauty and thinking waysbetween the east and the west, new art experiment in modern times, and thechanges and breakthrough of the contemporary art works. It arouses students’interest in the art appreciation course and improves their art accomplishment, making them pleased to explore new areas and making the art teaching paymore attention to students. Students can excavate and learn from variousangles. This type of teaching method focuses on improving students’ practicalability, broadening their horizon and innovation of knowledge, thus to betterreflect the initiative of art teaching at the new times.
