In the era of the globe knowledge economy, the society has a greater and more urgent demands on personnel training, in order to adapt to the social expectations and demands. Curriculum is the most important thing in our education. With the end of the unitary curriculum system, the state curriculum, local curriculum and school-based curriculum reallocate the decision-making powers and responsibilities. The school-based curriculum, as the necessary supplementary materials for the state curriculum, plays an important role in developing students’ interests, broadening their horizons and deepening the understanding of human being. Meanwhile, the exploration of the school-based curriculum facilitates its own philosophy of education, realizes the distinguishing feature of the school, as well as provides a stage for teachers’professional development. Therefore, the exploration of the school-based curriculum is one of the most important parts in Chinese basic education curriculum reform. And it is also the tendency of world education curriculum reform.The subject of my research is the school-based curriculums in junior middle schools. The purpose is to summarize the difficulties, problems, inspiration and reflection in the process of exploring school-based curriculum, based on the theory guidance and the real situation of music courses in four junior middle schools. This research can provide beneficial experience for school-based curriculum, and improve the rhetorical research in this aspect. The research includes the theory of school-based curriculum and some analysis of the music courses of four junior middle schools in Shanghai, so the research is quite creative, compared to others.The thesis includes three parts:Part one Introduction. It talks about the reason to choose this subject, the general description, the purpose, the method and the scope of the study.Part two:The Body. As the main part of the research, the thesis includes five parts:the analysis of the exploration, the setting of the objects, the content organization, the practice of the course and the evaluation. I try to find out their distinguished characters, based the real situation of four schools, to insert new contents in the school-based curriculum, as well as the practical process in music course.Part three:Conclusion. In this part, there are some analysis and summary of the theory and the practical results. I also express my own opinion.
