In the history of Chinese literature, poetry occupies a very importantposition. And Chinas literary history is a history of poetry, colorful works of poetry isan important part of Chinas outstanding traditional culture. In Jiangsu Province, thetextbook includes only10works of poems and9reading abstracts that are a very tinypart of Chinese classical poetry. Students’ poem understanding is not satisfactory. Butthis part scores10points in the college entrance examination and is one of the mainquestions that students lose points. How to improve the high school students’understanding on the classical Chinese poetry is an urgent task,"General High SchoolChinese new curriculum standards" pointed out:"To understand poem, studentsmust know the basic characteristics and performance practices; attempt poetrywriting; understand the ideological connotations of the work, explore the richimplication of the work, to comprehend the artistic charm." Throughout high schoolpoetry teaching students’ understanding of poetry is generally low, teachers are hardto improve the ability of students on appreciation of poetry. This article is accordingto the poetry teaching of practical experience, combining with the cultivation of highschool students ability, from poetry and poetry Appreciation connotation, theselection of the current situation and the reorganization of high school languagepoetry, how to improve students ability to appreciate the three aspects, to explorethe feasibility of cultivating students ability to appreciate ways.
