Ethical Analysis On Women’s Social Status In China

The study of the changing social status of women is getting more attention from both experts and non-experts. The degree of respect for women, individually and as a group, and the degree of equal opportunity for survival and development are closely linked to the happiness of the whole society. Women play an important role in the harmony of the family as well as stability of the society. Western theories like Feminine Ethics, Feminism, and Care Ethics will be applied in this research. Women as socially conscious and independent people, regardless of differences in social systems, cultures and values, face the same problems. Their experiences differ little by country, stage of life or social background.With the depth of China’s reform and opening up, society is more developed and more attention is given to human rights and individual happiness. The high and low social status of women, not only affects the female population and self development, but also has a huge impact on society. In today’s peaceful and well-developed society, the communist party and the government have proposed to build a harmonious socialist society. To build a socialist harmonious society, it is necessary that people feel happy and have self-esteem. The improvement of women’s social status will benefit the stability of the society, the development of the tertry industry, and the development of a harmonious socialist society. This is not only in line with the idea of "people-oriented", but also the inevitable requirement of development of the time. It is also related to the inheritance of future generations of young people. Patriarchal society inhibits the freedom and development of women. If women want to improve their social status and seek to develop themselves, it is necessary to improve their awareness of independent consciousness and ability, and actively seek thid improvement. We must build a good ethical framework system, improve the social status of individual women and women overall, and explore the harmonious development of a gender development path.This article is based upon the comprehensive development of human being, with a focus on the improvement of social status in women. From the view of Ethics, this paper studies human rights and exams at the female’s self-awareness and independent personality. This paper discovers the establishment, strengthen, weakening, lost and regression of women’s social status from ancient to current. It tries to find the basis of ethical theory for improving of the social status of women and construct the ethical rules necessary to mainten of the women’s social status. First, it reviews the ups and downs of Chinese women’s status from the matriarchal society to the modern society. Then it draws the status and problems of the social status of Chinese women from the survey data. It tries to understand the current situation and problems of women’s social status from the political, economic, female education, marriage, family, and the legal aspects. It try to find the cause of women’s current social status and problem from the traditional Chinese Ethics, the spread of Western worship of money, the women’s self awareness, the Chinese system, the female physiological characteristics, and social ethical norms. Finally, it proposes the ethical countermeasures to improve the Chinese women’s social status based on the theory and practice of Ethics.The major challenges of this research are both theoretical and non-theoretical. In theory, the person as an individual existence should have his own personality and consciousness. Women are human beings and also social beings, and, as such, should be treated equally. It is very difficult, however, to do so in reality. In the end, how equal are the social statuses of male and female? Which factors should be used to measure them? Which indicators should be used to measure their achievement? Should we allow women to complete the mission as a mother in a period of time and to achieve social value as a social being in another period of time? In this paper, the best way for men and women to carry out their own duties, the proper assignment of these duties and best practices are studied. The improvement of women’s social status is a long-term development process. It needs time and social development. In the process of improving the social status of women, we are facing the shackles of the old ideas and the trouble of new problems. Attention shoud be paid to the ethics of care and affirmation of the women’s individual values with recognition of women’s individual pursuits.
