Service-Learning is a teaching strategy which guides students to participate in organized social services, for meeting the social needs as well as cultivating the students’ knowledge, character and skills. In recent years, as a kind of a new strategy of promoting students’ personal growth and civic responsibility,Service-Learning become popular in Taiwan. With the deepening of higher education reform, Service-Learning has also attracted more and more experts and scholars’ attention as a innovative education idea and method. However, in general the research and understanding of Service-Learning is very lack in the mainland, especially the research about Service-Learning in Taiwan’s universities and colleges is almost blank. Therefore we need a comprehensive and thorough understanding to the situation of Service-Learning in Taiwan’s universitiesThis paper use a large number of qualitative empirical data to discuss the current situation of Service-Learning in Taiwan, sum up the experience and shortage, and then put forward the thinking about deepening and innovating the practice education work in universities and colleges in the mainland. The paper is generally divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction, including the origin of this topic, domestic and foreign research status as well as research ideas and methods of this article. This paper mainly adopts qualitative empirical research, by various flexible ways such as forms, images, content analysis, to vividly show the current situation of Service-Learning in Taiwan.The second part studies the development and current situation of Service-Learning in Taiwan’s colleges and universities. The development of Service-Learning in Taiwan has experienced three stages, including the forerunner of Service-Learning, the introduction of the concept and the wide range promotion. About the current situation of Service-Learning in Taiwan, this paper carries on the analysis from the main types of Service-Learning in universities and colleges, the organization, the implementation process and the effect and problem.The third part summarizes the experience of Service-Learning in Taiwan’s universities and colleges, including the Taiwan government’s policy and funding support, perfect security system, the localization of target concept, flexible development way and paying attention to guiding and reflection during the process.The fourth part combined with the experience of Taiwan and the problems the mainland facing in college students’ social practice to put forward the revelation of the innovation of practice education system.
