It is in the interests of colleges and universities to widely promote social practice among undergraduates. It contributes to the realization of the four fundamental tasks, that is talents cultivation, scientific innovation, social service and inheritance and creation of culture. Students from Tsinghua University first put forward a basic slogan in1980,’The responsibility of rejuvenating the Chinese nation rests with me and lies in now.’ Over the past30years, social practice among undergraduates have basically reached its goal. However,in view of the recent development, some problems worth due consideration still remains. This article is based on questionnaire survey of undergraduates from Hunan’s12universities of different levels. Plus, interviews with people in charge of the relative authorities and instructors are included. Through analysis, quite a lot problems emerge, including inadequate participation time, narrow scope, the absence of deeper meaning, the imperfection of the system, etc. In contrast with colleges and universities in the United States and summarize the internal similarities of the two, advice of mobilization full support of undergraduates、the building of guarantee mechanism and the standardization and perfection of social practice regime have been brought up. All the above advice have been put forward in the hope of providing enlightenment and reference to the healthy and long-standing sustainable development of social practice among undergraduates.
