The Study On Land-displaced Peasants’ Identify

In the accelerating process of China’s industrialization and urbanization, a large number of land-displaced peasants produced. They unprepared and passive acceptance from "rural" to "urban". Changes in the identity has two connotation:on the one hand, the government implementation of the policy form top to down, land-displaced peasants form agriculture accounts into city accounts, by farming at home become workers, by raising children for old age change to Social Security, the series of changes is bring from the system; On the other hand, land-displaced peasants accepted and recognized by the city, adapt to city lives, which actively integrate into the city. This is the gradual transformation of the psychological. Institutional changes overnight, but the psychological shift will not be achieved overnight, it is affected by the subjective consciousness. Many land-displaced peasants have got the symbol of the city, but the institutional identity of the city is not stand for the depth recognition of "city", they does not recognize the identity of the" public ". Land-displaced peasants don’t integrate into the city, corresponding urban civilization also did not accept them, land-displaced peasants living on the edge of the city.In the study, interviews on some land-displaced peasants thorough the suburbs of Wuhan city, aims to explore the process of their identity after they lost land. Through the perspective of social role theory to explore the contents of land-displaced peasants identity, the modes of land-displaced peasants identity, thinking about the association between social roles and identities as well as identity crisis, discussing ways to promote land-displaced peasants identity.In the study, author divided identity into three aspects, rural identity, urban identity and future vesting. In the study of the modes of land-displaced peasants’ identity, we found that the role transform has a strong impact for land-displaced peasants identity. The land-displaced peasants who tend to take the initiative to self-identity are accept the "City" both in system and psychological, and benign to adapt to city lives, but the land-displaced peasants who has passive emotions on the self-identity, there is a system or psychological disorders, passive comes from local complex.
