As a important way of education selection in American, home-school(homeschooling), considered to be the most free and open education form,has aroused widespread concern of the public and the academic community.This paper research and analysis the home-school’s core strengths and qualityfactors, by the profile, operation and quality assurance of the Americanhome-school, trying to understand education from a new perspective, and toexplore and reflect the traditional education of inspiration and reference.This paper includes five chapters.Chapter1, the preface, first introduces the origins of writing, and thenstarting from the home-school literature, summarizes the civil and foreignresearch conditions and problems, illustrates the purpose and significace ofthis research, then defines the concept of American homeschooling, finally, theresearch methods and ideas.Chapter2describes the rise,development and overview of homeschoolingin the United States through three aspects: the socio-historical,cultural,andtheoretical background of the American home-school; Course of thedevelopment of American home-school;the reason and motives of the parentswhy choose homeschooling. The research indicates: homeschooling tradition,anti-mainstream social period, culture of individualism, multiculturalism andreligious spirit, as well as left-wing anti-cultural and right-wing religiousconservative pedagogy, are the background of the rise of Americanhome-school. And the course of development of American home-schoolincludes four stages: debate, hostility, cooperation and consolidate,whiledissatisfaction with the public schools, religious reasons, advantages ofhome-school are the top three reasons for modern parents choosehome-school.Chapter3analysis the operation of American homeschooling throughthree aspects: implementation subject, Curriculum and support system ofAmerican home-school. The implementation subject includes homeschoolingfamilies, teachers, students; according to the degree of structure of theteaching time, teaching materials, teaching content, teaching methods, etc.,home-school curriculum is broadly divided into three categories oftraditionalists, eclectic and extremes; and the home-school support systemincludes four aspects: government policies of home-school support, publicschool, home-school organizations, home-school community and informationresources.Chapter4discusses the quality assurance of American home-schools,including policies of homeschooling education quality assurance, evaluation of the quality of home-school education, and home-school education qualityfactors; explores the relationship of the home-school operation and itseducation quality, points out that the the quality assurance factors of Americanhomeschooling lies in the form of the education itself, which is the corestrengths of the home-school.Chapter5analysis home-school’s core strengths and reflects thetraditional education, at last made recommendations for the problems inChina’s basic education.
