Nowadays, high school students are confronted with the fierce competition in the college entranceexamination, for this heavy pressure and the typical mental and physical features they have, their conditionof learning is not optimistic. After enter the new century, due to the concepts of the new curriculum reformwhich are aimed to promote the students all-round development and grow up happily are, the new teachingmethods also emerge in an endless way. These new teaching methods are designed from the students’perspective which can make the students acquire knowledge by arousing the students’ enthusiasm andinitiative of learning. The guiding case teaching method is precisely the product of this situation. Theauthor probes the new method in politics class by combining with his own teaching experience andpractice.Undoubtedly, it is necessary to promote the guiding case teaching method in high school’s politicsclass. For it is the need to improve the students’ identity of politics class, besides it is also the need toenable the students’ all-around development. In addition, it is the need of the textbooks under the newconcept of curriculum reform. What’s more, it is the need for the teachers to convert their teaching methodsin this new situation.Since the author put the guiding case teaching method into class, he found that the students’ learninghabit has changed a lot. They begin to learn new things on their initiative and work together to integrate theproblem actively. They make progress in an unity and gain the ability to communicate well with others. Sothere is no doubt that the guiding case teaching method make most students participate in their study to alarge extent and let most of them succeed in their study.However, there are also some problems in teaching practice. Such as, the quality of the teaching planis not up to standard, the encouragement to the students is not enough, and some students gradually losttheir interest. The problems are far more than these. Regarding to these problems, the author think that theteachers and students should exert a joint effort to overcome them. For teachers, they should keep learningand improve their own quality to adapt the requirements of the new teaching method, while the students have to set up the idea "I want to learn" and take part in the teaching progress actively, and they also needto have the team spirit, only in this way can they make great progress and grow happily in their study.
