With the rapid development of economic and social, economy is no longer the sole purpose for most migrant workers.Large amount of migrant workers not only want to get more money, but also desire to integrate into the city. As we all know, inhabitation is the material basis for them to integrate into city. Under this background and based on investigation into the migrant workers in Hubei province, this paper, from the perspective of the action-structure interaction theory, social distance theory, using regression analysis, tries to analyze the inhabitation situation and its factors, and the relationship between inhabitation situation and psychological integration. It is found that:Inhabitation situation of migrant workers is not so better, but with high satisfaction. It shows that:first, migrant workers are mainly living in the rental unit, collective building sheds, dormitory and so on, less proportion migrant workers can afford a house in city, per capita living space is small.Second, majority of migrant workers living in dormitories provided by the shabby rented or units, failed to living with their family. Third, most migrant workers are excluded from the city housing security system, it is difficult for them to enjoy the city’s housing benefits. Fourth, despite generally poor living situations of migrant workers, the majority of migrant workers showed higher satisfaction with their living environment.Inhabitation situation of migrant workers were general poor but divided. It was not only attributed to individual micro-economic factors and non-economic factors, but also attributed to enterprise, such as nature, scale level, and so on. It mainly includes the following several reasons.First, in terms of model of living, migrant workers who lived with their families, with high education, high levels of income are more likely to choose a social-oriented way of living. The larger the size of the enterprise, the nature of the unit for collective enterprises, migrant workers tend to choose capital-oriented way of living. Second, in terms of inhabitation area, variables including age, marital status, length of work experience, income level, whether living with their families and industry sector, have significant impact on the choice of migrant workers’inhabitation area. Third, in terms of inhabitation space, variables including age, whether living with their families, whether vocational training, industry sector, have significant impact on inhabitation space. Fourth, in terms of inhabitation environment, variables including income level, vocational training, professional qualifications have significant positive impact on the evaluation of inhabitation environment, where people who engage in service industry, work in large-scale enterprise have higher satisfaction with inhabitation environment than others, other variables have no impact on inhabitation environment.Migrant workers’ inhabitation situation generate significant impact on the psychological integration, variables such as sources of residence, inhabitation area and evaluation on inhabitation environment have significant impact on the psychological integration, while inhabitation space is not significant.Based on the above conclusion, this paper believe that the improvement of the inhabitation situation of migrant workers should adhere to the principle of hierarchical classification, at the same time, attention should be paid to the relationship between subjective distance in inhabitation space and objective distance which may affect migrant workers’ psychological integration.
