The gradual progress of the curriculum reform, is to deepen many aspects of the curriculumand teaching. As an important part of the curriculum reform, textbooks has been a greatimprovement. The textbook is the core resources of teaching activities, it is the main basis ofthe teaching activities and Students to gain knowledge. Researching textbooks help to graspthe development trend of the textbooks and provide a theoretical reference for textbookwriting.The Soviet Union is a big country in history, it was the rival superpower with the UnitedStates. Soviet has very powerful political and military strength, it has been played animportant role in World War II. Although the Soviet Union exists no longer, it was aflourishing nation in the world. History textbook that is the core resources of history teaching,basically reflects the mainstream view of academia. Soviet history as an important part in highschool history textbooks, the two sides textbooks are both described it, however showing adifferent image of the Soviet Union in the two sides textbooks. Therefore, how to render theImage of the Soviet union in the two sides textbooks, this is indeed a subject worthy of study.In this paper, according to relevant theories in history and education, etc and taking the PEPand Hanlin version of high school history textbooks as the research object, is to comparativestudy of the Soviet image. more comprehensive, scientific, objective description andunderstanding of Soviet history and Soviet image, to make some suggestions and opinions inorder to improve the Soviet in textbooks. This paper is divided into four main parts to expandthe study of the Soviet Union in the two editions of textbooks.The first part describes the origin of the study, researches purpose and meaning of thispaper, and introduces the status of the study. On the basis of previous studies, I come out withmy own research ideas and methods, and relate concepts to interpret.The second part take PEP and Hanlin version as example, to study Soviet historydistribution in the two editions of textbooks, and to analysis specific content in the twoeditions of textbooks of Soviet, this can present the Soviet image of each of the two editionsof textbooks.The third part compares the Soviet image in the two editions of textbooks, this is mainlythrough selection of content and expression of content in the two editions textbooks of Soviethistory. In the two editions of textbooks on Soviet history, they have convergence anddifferences in content selection. There are differences on the expression of content, this majorinclude the historical facts of the narrative and character evaluation. By the comparison of these two aspects, this paper tries to analysis of influencing factors behind.The fourth part is overall interpretation the Soviet image for the two editions of textbooks,and its critical analysis are both the successes and shortcomings of the two editions oftextbooks on the description of the Soviet image. As a consequence, the paper makes somesuggestions and opinions to improve textbook writing, to enrich and develop of Soviet historyin the textbooks.
