Since the end of the twentieth century, in order to adapt to the needs of socialdevelopment, a lot of nations have successively carried out another reform in fundamentaleducation curriculum. In promoting the reform, the China mainland and Taiwan middle shoolhistory textbooks are also engaged in a profound transformation. Among them, Chinesehistory textbook transformation mianly is to change from “teaching” to “learning”, Taiwanhistory textbook reform is from “knowledge” to “ability” transformation. This paper selectedthe people’s Education Publishing House published in2007high school history textbook(referred to as the “pep” Sanmin Publishing House published in2012) and the high schoolhistory textbook (referred to as the “three principles of the people”) as research carrier,through a comparative study of the high school history textbooks, the image of the Unitedstates, in order to further enrich and improve the high school history textbook Americanhistorical writing and shaping the image of the United states.This dissertation includes three parts as follows:The first part: Constructing the image of the United States high school history textbookin two sides of the Taiwan Strait. construction of the image of the United States is mainly basedon the history of the United States of America, the first history of the two version of highschool history textbook in the compilation and contents of systematic carding, On this basis,carries on the construction of the United States of America image version two in the seniorhigh school history textbooks from the American historical figures and historical events.The second part: A comparative study of the cold war the United States image versiontwo in the senior high school history textbooks period. Mainly includes three periods, Eachperiod of research related to the case, the nineteen fifties of the image of the United States–to” Korean War” for the United States of America image cases, nineteen sixties—Taking”more slow war” as the image of the United States and in twentieth Century70—90years.Through the comparative study, factors influencing the similarities and differences betweenthe image of the United States on both sides in the senior high school history textbooks.The third part: On an overall analysis of the United States of America the two edition inthe senior high school history textbooks, including the success and the insufficiency and theenlightenment and suggestions of two parts, in order to summarize the thoughts andsuggestions about the United States history writing and the United States of America image oflocation of the two edition of the textbook, in order to further enrich and develop the image ofthe United States of America in the senior high school history textbooks.
