The pre-Qin period refers to the previous era of Chinese Qin Dynasty(221AD). The pre-Qin period, including the ancient times, the Xia, Shang,Zhou Dynasty, Spring and Autumn Period. As for the origin of the Officialschool, most of the views hold that early in the Western Zhou Dynasty,a complete set of the official school system had been set up. This thesis, from this point of view, gave a dissenting opinion that in the pre-Qinperiod there was no official school yet. The author proved it from fourthe following aspects: First of all, educational institutions at thattime were just social education of institutions, rather than specializededucational institutions; Second, as for the form of education andeducators’ terms such as title, because there were no formal educationalactivities, educators and the educated did have the fixed title; third, special educators, before the Spring and Autumn Period, didn’t containthe meaning of "education". What’s more, Confucius had no buried divisionof the ceremony; Finally, the author re-examined some of the argumentsin the Western Zhou Dynasty as well as in classic literature.
