The education of Shandong plays a very important role in the development of Chinese education. In modern time, the education of Shandong has presented a kind of the structure that the old style education and the new one coexist. This article absorbs and draws on the experience of some predecessors’achievements, making a research on the phenomenon that the old style education and the new one coexist in Shandong from the year of1904to1928. The whole article divides into4parts:Part1:The situation that the Later Qing Dynasty is confronted with. Because of the influence of serious political environment, education changes great. The old style education has declined, while the new style one has been in the embryonic stage. The private school, as one important way of old style education, begins to decline as well. But in Shandong, the power of private school plays an important role.Part2:The new style education is carrying forward gradually and the development of Xuetang. This article mainly relates to from the year1904to1928, which includes the later time of Qing dynasty and the earlier time of Bejing government. This part mainly focuses on two problems. One is that for the sake of reforming or banning the private school, what measures did the government take. The other is that the way Shandong carry out these measures. And what the result is after these measures are taking in Shandong.Part3:The situation is that Shandong private schools still exist and why there are so many private schools exist. According to the material statistics, in Later Qing Dynasty, private schools occupy an advanced role on the quantity in Shandong. The education of private school is the main method for people to choose in spite of a small number of private schools being banned. The private school is flexible. Compared with the new school, the private school is more acceptable in spite of its many pitfalls. This part mainly analyses the reason that the private school is more popular. And the reasons conclude traditional reasonableness of the private school, the tendency of people’s awareness, the social environment influence and so on.Part4:The problems of the new school. New school is supported by the government, but the development of the new school does not go very well in the Later Qing and the early time of republic of China. This part analyses the reasons that the development of the new schools does not work well, which conclude the shortage of the funds, the shabbiness of facilities, the shortage of teachers, the backwardness of courses and so on. |
