In the era of knowledge economy, the concept of lifelong learning constantly enjoys popular support. Learning has become an integral part of working and living of every member of society. To build learning society has become an inevitable choice for national development and national rejuvenation. Report of18th Chinese Communist Party National Congress made it clear that we should develop continuing education actively, improve the system of lifelong education and build a learning society. Every member of society, especially adults is the Implementer and practitioner of life-long learning. Adult self-learning not only is an important foundation for practicing the concept of lifelong learning, but also an important foundation for building a learning society. Therefore, a comprehensive and systemative study of necessity, feasibility method and other factors of the connotation, characteristics and significant of adult self-learning under the concept of lifelong learning has a very important significance to achieve the philosophy of lifelong learning a,to improve the ability of self-learning and to build the formation of lifelong learning for the social atmosphere, so as to promote the construction of a learning society. Based on this, in this paper, the concept of lifelong learning as a starting point, self-learning for adults conducted in-depth research.This thesis is divided into four parts.Part I:This thesis made research, induction and analysis for theoretical aspects of lifelong learning and adult self-learning situation, and explained the significance of the self-learning research on adults under the concept of lifelong learning.Part II:This thesis focused on analyzing of the characteristics and significance of adult self-learning under the concept of lifelong learning, which based on the definition of concept of adult self-learning.Part III:This thesis discussed from multi-dimensional of the necessity of adult self-learning, and respectively, the thesis discussed the feasibility of society adult self-learning from two aspects, one is the internal factor of individuals, the other is external factor of the social conditions.Part Ⅳ:To investigate the specific methods and measures of self-learning for adults in today’s social conditions, this thesis is aimed at providing guidance for the practice of adult self-learning.
