By taking Fuzhou District as the case study area, this paper conducted a systematic research on the take-over and reconstruction process of ordinary middle schools in Fujian during the beginning of China from1949to1956.Chapter1is the investigation of the background on the take-over of cultural education institutions in Fuzhou District during the beginning of China. The starting point and historical particularity of the take-over work are analyzed from the pre-stage investigation reports of different middle schools.Chapter2is the reproduction of the take-over and reconstruction history of middle schools. This chapter consists of four sub-sections:section1introduces the steps of take-over and reconstruction; section2is the "adjustment of school administrative management"(that is, analysis school running by former Kuomintang regime and school-running system of new China, the later transited from the temporary school administration committee to principal-in-charge system, and discussion of the establishment of school CPC party committee and Youth League branch on the development of middle schools); Section3is about the reform of teaching system and curriculums, and Section4is the reconstruction of school sociology. This chapter mainly focuses on statements of historical facts.Chapter3is the dissertation of the initial accomplishments achieved by reconstruction based on individual case analysis of a particular school. It consists of three sections, each of which takes public middle school represented by Fuzhou No.1Middle School, private church middle school represented by Middle School of teacher’s college and the distinct Overseas Chinese-run middle school as the case of research to examine the unique characteristics of the various types of middle schools and the initial effects of reconstruction in Fuzhou District.Chapter4is the research from a microcosmic perspective. It also consists of three sections:section1studies the delicate relation between politics and education in middle school construction; section2discusses the differences between education policies and practical implementation; Section3is the dissertation of the group relation in school community. In combination with the documents on some figures, this chapter objectively reveals the choice and conflicts that are unknown to people during the initial reconstruction stage, laying a foundation for the research conclusion.Chapter5is about the analysis of the loss and gains from Fujian education reconstruction represented by Fuzhou District during the early days of China.
