since the new century, both Chinese mainland and Taiwan have implemented their new curriculum reforms. Under this background, the high school history textbooks have undergone a profound change. This paper used1945-1949civil war as a starting point to do a comparison research between the history textbooks published by People’s Education Press in the mainland and by Taiwan Kangxi Book Network Corporation on aspects of the auxiliary system of texts and the text content. In the first part, the author mainly introduced the research purpose and methods, as well as some research trends in recent years. The second part mainly discussed the concept of the history textbook, its function, the curriculum reform in Taiwan and the present history teaching situation. The third part studied the similarities and differences of the high school history curriculum (outline) between the mainland China and Taiwan on aspects of the curriculum structure, curriculum objectives, curriculum content standards, etc.The fourth and fifth parts did a history book comparison research of between mainland China and Taiwan on the auxiliary system of texts and text content by using1945-1949civil war as an example.The purpose of this paper is to seek for a more student-based textbook in line with the concept of the new curriculum theory and make contribution to the high school history textbook development and perfection under the background of new curriculum reform by the comparion study of history books between the mainland China and Taiwan.
