As an important resource for the development of the universities and colleges,the college and university teachers play the decisive role in the fields of training ofpersonnel, subject construction, transformation and output of scientific achievements.How to effectively manage the performance of university teachers, to improve theirenthusiasm for work, to maximize their potential and make greater contributions,so asto achieve the development goals of the university,has become a strategic issueswhich is widespread concerned and put a new premium on for the college anduniversity managers.The private higher learning institution,as an important component of Chinashigher education system, not only has already formed a certain scale in quantity, butalso been gradually recognized by society in the quality of teaching after several yearsof development. They have become an important force in Chinas higher educationsystem, which has a certain structure,level and features,and they has made a positivecontribution in cultivating practical talents and promoting the popularization of highereducation. Some unavoidable practical plight still exist, and the faculty building andmanagement has become the most important factor for sustainable development of theprivate higher learning institutions,which has become an important research in how toimprove the private higher learning institutions’ core competitiveness.In the context of private higher learning institutions’ rapid development, thisarticle attempts to introduce the performance management into the private higherlearning institutions’ performance management of teachers, which is the content ofhuman resources management. With the systemic of performance management forfoothold, by analyzing the problems of performance management which is existed in arepresentative private higher learning institution of Shandong Province currently,based on the theory of performance management, we study and discuss the work oftheir performance management, and put forward the method of constructing thesystem ofthe teacher performance management. Through the establishment andimplementation of this system, with the hope to promote the other functions’perfection and improvement, which are related to the human resources management inthe private higher learning institutions. We attempt to provide some theoretical andpractical basis in order to promote the teachers to pursue continuous growth anddevelopment and achieve the strategic goal of private higher learning institution tohave a certain degree of sustainable development capacity, so as to promote thecontinuous development of private higher education and growth.
