Private higher education in China has developed nearly30years, which hasbecome an important part of China’s higher education. However, it has also facedchallenges, including internationalization, expansion of domestic public highereducation, involvement of private capital, resulting in increasing market competition. Inthe context of private higher education from "seller’s market" to "buyer’s market",combining limited research resources, training talents who meet the market demand andimplementing application-oriented talent cultivation strategy has become inevitablechoice for the survival and development of private colleges and universities. Teachingstaff construction in private colleges and universities is the key to talent training. Toachieve application-oriented talent cultivation strategy, it is important to implementteachers ’ performance management. Although most of China’s private colleges anduniversities have implement teachers ’ performance management, there is deviationfrom position, lagging methods, unscientific targets and unreasonable assessment,which affects the realization of application-oriented talent cultivation strategy. Thisarticle attempts to refer to advanced foreign application-oriented talent cultivationstrategy, combining the characteristics of private university teachers, from idea change,principle and emphasis definition to processes improvement, building a scientific andreasonable system of private university teachers ’ performance management.
