Reasearch On The Status Of Handicapped Sports Fitness Activities In Shanxi Province

Disabled sports are a manifestation of the basic rights of disabilities. The specialconnotation and features of disabled sports cause particular concern of people. In2007Second National Sample Survey on Disability, the disabled population in ShanxiProvince is202.9milion people, accounting for6.04%of the total number. Shanxiattaches great importance to the development of disabled sports, unveiled a series ofprotections for the disabilities’ rehabilitation and education, including “theRegulations on Safeguard Legitimate Rights and Interest of Disabilities”.However, there are many problems to be solved in the cause of the Protection ofDisabled Persons in Shanxi Province, and there are also a lot of deficiencies indisabled sports. How to seize opportunities for the development in the new historicalconditions with the actual conditions of Shanxi Province, to promote the disabledsports and building a harmonious society, is a major issue for us.The research selected the disabilities in Zhangzi County of Shanxi Province asthe research object, to study the current situation and problems of disabled sportsfitness in Zhangzi County, and provided the recommendations of development, tooffer reference for the development of disabled sports in Shanxi Province.The paper research on the basic situation of the disabled and health status ofdisabled people, the behavior and content, the environment, the psychological fitness,and the consumption situation on sports of the disabled people, reached the followingconclusions.The frequency that disabled persons of the survey to participate in the sportsactivities is low, and a lot of people just occasionally take part in physical fitness ornever participate in. And the time to take part in physical exercise is short, so thesports population proportion in Zhangzi County is very small. Because of theeconomic conditions and social condition restriction, the disabled sports consumptionamount in Zhangzi County is low, and most of them have basically no spending.In the factors affecting persons with disabilities to participate in sports andfitness, environmental factors including the lack of suitable venues and equipment,sports fitness project, organizations on physical fitness activities and professional guidance, share the largest proportion. In their own factors of affecting disabledpeople to participate in physical fitness, their own economic restrictions has thegreatest impact.Accordingly reaching the following suggestions: strengthen the government’ssupport, establish and perfect the management system among the government theunit/community and the disabled; increase capital investment, and strength theconstruction of sports facilities suitable for the disabled people; explore disabledsports new direction, and research and extension projects suitable for people withdisabilities; train a group of social sports instructors to provide professional guidance;perfect the social security system for the disabled people, and promote theemployment of them, to improve their living standards; strengthen propaganda andguidance, to build positive social environment suitable foe the development of thedisabled sports.
