Vocal skills training is the core part of China’s higher normal education formusic pedagogy, which would directly impact the training of elementary musicteacher. There has been numerous researches on higher normal education for musicpedagogy or studies to specifically cultivating students’ comprehensive abilities, butnever both. By analyzing the characteristics, necessity, importance and objection ofhigher education for music pedagogy, this essay plans to enhance students’comprehensive abilities in the process of music pedagogy practice. The trainingincludes enriching teaching content and diversified forms such as classroomorganization, art practice and teaching practice. Higher normal education for musicpedagogy can elevate the cultivation of students’ comprehensive non-major abilities:moral standard, intelligence, cultural accomplishment, language expression, aestheticappreciation and psychological quality; while good vocals, excellent pianoaccompaniment, teaching practical ability can better their professional qualities. Byresearching from a holistic angle and combining personal practice experience, theauthor aims to shed a light for the learners who want to study on higher normaleducation for music pedagogy.
