A Study On The Culture Amalgamation Of The Uyghur Mobile Population In Urumqi

Since the Openning-Policy,with the gradual relaxation of the householdregistration system,a large sum of rural labors including cnosiderable number ofminority mobile population come into cities to work or do buiness,from that on, theWave of Migrant Peasant Laborers become one of the social phenomena of commonconcern. Beside the significant contribution done by the mobile population toeconomic and social development for the city and the whole country, the socialproblems associated attracted the academic research, becoming an important topicfor many disciplines such as sociology, demography and politics.Influenced by such factors as languages, culture, international environment andreligions, compared with the mobile population of Han Chinese, the social problemsgenerated by the mobile population of ethnic minorities appare more special.Whether well-treated, those problems not only relate to the construction ofharmonious ethnic relationship, but also have a great bearing on the regional stabilityand socio-economic development. In view of the differences that exist betweenurban and rural cultures, ethinc cultures, traditional and modern cultures, regionalcultures, among various problems, the problem of culture amalgamation ofminorities mobile population appare particularly important. The minorities mobilepopulation’s culture amalgamation being well carried out will not only be conduciveto the survival and development of minority floating population in cities, but alsohelp improve the sense of belonging and identity of minority floating population ofthe city, and it will also do good to promoting the development of the ethnicinteraction and ethnic relations, which creates a favorable social environment for thecity’s construction and development.As one of the areas with many ethnic living in, in recent years, Uighur floatingpopulation from the southern and northern rural areas has also become an importantcomponent of the population in Urumqi. This study plans to research UrumqiUyghur floating population as subject, by investigating current status and problemsof the Uygur floating population’s culture integration to explore the means toimprove their cultural integration. This study will use literature study and fieldsurvey, quantitative research and qualitative research as combination of researchmethods, questionnaires, interviews, observation data as the ways of informationcollection, which aims to bring out some constructive recommendations to enhanceand improve the culture integration of Uighur floating population in China.
