To solve the problem that contemporary adolescents don’t treat life kindly because ofthe lack of life consciousness, life education activities rapidly expand throughout theworld. As life education was introduced into China mainland since the1990s, it attracteddomestic scholars’ attention, and the research of life education went into furtherdevelopment in breadth and depth. This research took the teenagers’ comprehensivedevelopment educational ideal as the breakthrough point, and took Lin Yutang as the studyobject, then induced his life conception, explored how to link Lin Yutang’s life conceptsand modern life education, in order to improve life education in school.Lin Yutang is a well-known scholar, writer and linguist, he has always been regardedas a disseminator of culture, humorous wise, leisurely hedonist, and his life is also full ofjoy and enjoyment. After reading his essays in detail, we find he has a strong sense of life,faces life with delicate feelings. He does not pursue for shallow pleasure, but looks at lifewith deep love and care on the base of real life experience, guides people to enjoy happyand meaningful life. The main purpose of this study is to summarize his life concepts fromhis essays, combine with his life practice, find out the ideas and ways to help peoplesearching for life essence, cherishing life and making the best use of life, then practicethem in modern life education.According to this research, we found Lin Yutang was a traveler with colorful taste oflife and a freedom fighter filled with the passion of life, his life conceptions containedthree aspects: firstly, life and nature combined harmonious together, people needed to treatall life equally, and pursued for living in harmony in nature with moderation means.Secondly, life and humor were inseparable, humor could make life interesting, and humorcould bring joy thereby diluting the tragedy of life. Thirdly, life and personality wouldcomplement each other, we could respect for life inner feelings to express spirituality andindividuality, and we could also seek freedom and leisure life style to create a miracle life.Lin Yutang’s essays had some reference to improve modern life education. LinYutang’s life activities could promote the practice of life education, improve theimplementation of life education, strengthen life education with real life contact, and hislife concepts could enrich life education theory and enrich the content of life education,therefore coordinated the relationship between teachers and students in the life education.
